BIOGRAPHY

Raquel Sánchez Castellanos is born in Madrid, Spain, a rainy Thursday in 1989. Devoted to visual arts and music, she gets her Licenciatura in Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2012. She was also studying one year as exchange student at Kunsthøgskolen i Bergen, Norway in 2010.
Furthermore she has studies from the Conservatorio Profesional de Arturo Soria in Madrid, where she learned most of her piano skills from 2002 to 2009. Some years later she was attending music and piano lessons at the Grieg Academy in Bergen during two semesters, until 2014. At the present time she is both working as a visual artist and studying a Master's degree programme in Music Pedagogy at Høgskolen i Bergen.

Her artwork is dominated by a constant reflection on the Existing - where Death is a necessary part of it. She mixes several traditional techniques such as drawing, intaglio printmaking, woodcut printing and sculpture, always being in direct hand contact with the piece. This results in an organic aura, a replica of the artist's soul, sometimes supported by mechanical and audiovisual elements.
